But how to approach this new season, which is better, the pool with chlorine or with salt?

For years this question has been very common among pool users, due to some myths about which of the two options is better or knowing people with chlorine allergies among others. The main characteristics of the two types are explained below.

Chorine

Chlorine is the chemical most commonly used to disinfect water. It is added chemically. Depending on how you want the chlorine to act, whether faster or slower, one format or another is recommended: liquid, granulated, or tablets.

Chlorine pools do not need more machinery than necessary, only the purifier. It is true that by keeping the water chlorinated during the bath, the chlorine continues to clean the micro-organisms and bacteria.

Salt

On the other hand, the use of a salted pool is recommended by health professionals to avoid body irritations and reddening of the eyes. It also helps blood circulation in case of muscular pain and increases respiratory capacity.

In this case, the salt level is much lower than in the sea, so the buoyancy is lower and the pH level has to be tested more constantly as it is usually higher due to the salt.

In recent years, the salt chlorinator has become fashionable. This method is a natural treatment, without any chemicals, which is based on converting salt into chlorine gas using electrolysis. Unless the pool water is changed, salt does not have to be added every so often, salt is cyclical, i.e. it changes from salt to chlorine and then back to salt when exposed to UV rays. This tool is compatible with all types of pools.

Whatever the final decision, it should be borne in mind that in any method the water must first be cleaned with chlorine and the pH stabilized.

Summer is here, time to enjoy a good swim in the pool.
